On Sunday December 7th The Eastern Carolina Musical Arts Education Foundation will present The St. Paul’s choir and The First Presbyterian Church Choir of Goldsboro, NC for a celebration of a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.This service of Christian Worship tells the story of Christmas through a series of biblical readings combined with Carols and Anthems beginning with the fall of humanity, the prophecy of the Messiah to the birth of Jesus.
Nine Lessons and Carols is treasured service in the church today which is revered all over the world. The most famous Nine Lessons and Carols can be heard at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge England. The version we know today was popularized by the Dean of King’s College Cambridge Eric Milner-White in 1918 and was designed to help soldiers suffering from the loss and trauma of World War I by using readings and carols to create a message of hope. It is estimated that 18% of those at Cambridge lost their lives during the war.
This service will take place Sunday December 7, 2025 at 5pm at St. Paul’s
