Lesson Learned

Waupaca Story Project (WSP) is seeking storytellers!
Join us for our next LIVE storytelling event on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 6:30–8:30 PM at The Grand National Lounge, and share a true, personal story inspired by the theme:
LESSON LEARNED
We’ve all learned a few things—some the easy way, some the hard way, and some only after making the same mistake more than once.
Maybe your story is about a lesson you never expected to learn. A mistake that changed you. Advice you ignored (and later wished you hadn’t). A person who taught you something you still carry. A moment when you realized you had been completely wrong. Or perhaps it’s a lesson you’re still trying to learn.
The lesson can be profound, funny, painful, embarrassing, heartwarming—or wonderfully ordinary. CREATIVE interpretations of the theme are always welcomed and encouraged!
Want to be one of our featured storytellers? You don’t have to be an experienced storyteller. You just need a true story that happened to you. Give it a try!
Please submit the following to [email protected] by Tuesday, October 20, 2026:
1. A story summary (at least 4–5 sentences). Clearly outline the narrative arc—how the story begins, what happens, and how it ends. Stories should be approximately 5–7 minutes when told aloud.
2. An emotional description of the story (if you have one). For example: “A funny, slightly embarrassing story about learning when to keep my mouth shut,” or “A tender story about a lesson I didn’t understand until years later.”
3. A short bio about yourself (no more than a few lines). You may eventually be asked for more, but this is a good place to start.
