About this Event

Leslie Palmer took Notting Hill Carnival from a local gathering of 3,000 people and turned it into a national event of 50,000. He introduced sound systems, recruited steel bands and reggae groups, secured sponsorship and extended the route. There is a blue plaque on Portobello Road with his name on it.

This is an intimate In Conversation evening in the Listening Lounge – a small space for no more than 20 people. Leslie tells his story in his own words.

All attendees including children require a ticket.

Part of Carnival 60, a six-month heritage programme marking the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival. Produced by More Curricular CIC & Notting Hill Walks.
