Featured Poet:
Joaquín Zihuatanejo was the inaugural Dallas Poet Laureate for the city of Dallas. He was awarded a $50,000 Laureate Fellowship prize by the Academy of American Poets in honor of the extraordinary work he did as Dallas' first poet laureate. He earned his MFA from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is the only poet on the planet to win the Individual World Poetry Slam Championship and the World Cup of Poetry Slam Championship held in Paris, France. Making him for a time, the number one ranked slam poet on the planet. His new book, Occupy Whiteness, which he has for sale tonight, is out now from Deep Vellum Publishing.
