About this Event

Philip Glass based his 1996 opera on Jean Cocteau’s novel of the same name. The story revolves around the teenagers Paul and Lise, who retreat into a Paris apartment after the death of their mother. Their seemingly innocent games gradually spiral into a destructive power struggle that also ensnares others around them. Slowly, brother and sister drive each other toward a tragic climax.
