Leonardo Field Trips Fall 2022

Exhibits available with general admission (free for public and charter schools):

FLIGHT is an exhibit on the 1st floor dedicated to the adventure of human flight. An experience designed to stimulate each visitors’ imagination. FLIGHT explores the science, technology, and stories that surround historical and contemporary aviation technology. Climb in and inspect the enormous C-131 aircraft, take to the skies on flight simulators, or be captivated by the Tunnel of Dreams — get curious and explore in any way you’d like to learn about flight, and surely, this exhibit has something for you.

Black Wings: American Dreams of Flight, found on the 2nd floor, takes a closer look at African Americans’ remarkable triumph and tragedy in aerospace history. Developed by noted scholar and Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum curator Von Hardesty, the exhibition traces the history of African Americans in flight, from the thrilling barnstormers of the early 1920s to the equally daring astronauts of the 21st century. This stirring collection of historical and contemporary photographs, first-hand interviews, and extraordinary stories offers a compelling overview of a truly inspiring saga.

The Art Studio was opened in November 2021 as an Educational Space, in conjunction with the Art Through Experience Digital Immersive Exhibit series. Located on the Second Floor of the Leo, the Art Studio offers a robust and versatile roster of hands-on experiences. Guests can expect to engage with activities across the full spectrum of visual arts practices. Educational Facilitators assist guests, run guided activities, and bring Family Art Saturday to curious visitors every weekend. The Leo Art Studio is also home to our Artist Residency program in partnership with Artes de México Utah, fostering connections between local artists and our community visitors.

Optional Exhibit:

Art Through Experience (additional fee of $7.50 each) is an immersive art exhibit which projects images of paintings on the walls and floors of the space. We offer five shows that rotate on a schedule. *From Monet Through Kandinsky, *Italian Renaissance, Van Gogh 360, Great Impressionists, and *Something Nouveau.
