Lei Making Workshop with Marliss Brockington
About this Event
Marliss Brockington is a longtime resident of Lee County and is involved with lots of community engagement in regards to Polynesian culture. She teaches workshops, teaches Polynesian dance, and hosts performances with Polynesian dancers. She is excited to teach the residents of Sanibel about Polynesian culture, starting with learning how to make lei with natural flowers and greenery that can even be found in your own backyard.
In this workshop, participants will learn the beautiful and traditional culture of lei making. They will learn how to use flowers and greens (even from their own backyard) to create a "flower necklace" lei and a hair piece that can be worn to a special occasion or given as a gift!
All materials are provided by Marliss, and the workshop is suited for anybody ages 10 to 100!
