Keola Beamer and Henry Kapono both became icons in the 1970s while at the creative forefront of the “Hawaiian Renaissance” as Hawaiian music was reinventing itself. These beloved artists have continued to lead the way for over five decades. Keola Beamer, one of Hawai'i's premier singer/songwriters, composers and guitar masters, is honored in the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame, helped launch the ’70s statewide revival of slack key guitar and released the top-selling album "Honolulu City Lights."
His wife, Moanalani Beamer, performs hula as well as chants and traditional Hawaiian instruments. Henry Kapono, a Grammy-nominated, award-winning singer/songwriter, has forged the sound of Hawaiian music since the ’70s and continues to win accolades. His 21 Na Hoku Awards (the Hawaiian “Grammys”) includes “Favorite Entertainer,” as chosen by popular vote. Henry continues to celebrate his love for family, his pride in his Hawaiian culture and his joy for his home in the Islands with every performance.
