LEGACY IN MOTION is a powerful tribute honouring the life, artistry, and legacy of Patrick Parson – founder of Ballet Creole and a visionary force in Afro-Caribbean contemporary dance in Canada. The evening features excerpts from signature works in Ballet Creole’s repertory, including Fête and Soulful Messiah, alongside reflections on Patrick Parson’s deep engagement with African and Caribbean spiritual traditions. These choreographed works embody his distinctive artistic language, rooted in rhythm, storytelling, and cultural memory.
Bringing together past and present artists, invited choreographers, and a dedicated solo tribute, Legacy in Motion celebrates a legacy that continues to inspire generations of dancers and audiences. Through movement, rhythm, and remembrance, the performance honours a life devoted to cultural expression, artistic excellence, and community.
One of Canada’s first Black dance companies, Ballet Creole is a charitable organization representing the best of traditional and contemporary dance rooted in African and Caribbean forms. From performance to professional training to Summer camps, you can immerse yourself in our “creolization” – celebrating the rich heritage of African and Caribbean cultures as they interface with European traditions. Ballet Creole represents Diversity in Harmony both on stage and in the community.
