The third installment of Lee Bob at The Side Door will be a special one. The core members of Lee Bob & The Truth — Josh Lippi, Steve Wyreman & Lee Bob — will convene for the first time in over 5 years to play an intimate set pulling from their 3 albums of original music.
The 3 albums — The Truth, The Light, Life Is A Miracle — were produced in a flurry between 2014 and 2017. The releases garnered critical praise and landed them guest spots on KEXP Seattle, Cap Radio, KPFA and other stations. The band was also featured on a number of festival stages along the west coast.
In recent years, Josh Lippi has been active with Tommy Guerrero and others. He has released two records with Guerrero under the moniker Los Days and has toured the US, Japan and Europe in Guerrero’s touring band.
Steve Wyreman has been playing and writing with Richard Ashcroft, Leon Bridges and others. He’s also produced a handful of records with Effie Zilch and Miko Marks. Last fall, Marks debuted the song Jubilee — produced by Steve and penned by Lee Bob— with the Fisk Jubilee Singers at the Grand Ole Opry.
Last year, Lee Bob came to The Side Door to debut new solo songs which he released as Free EP in June 2024.
“The pin-drop intimacy of The Side Door is unique,” says Lee Bob, “I really look forward to bringing The Truth into this environment and sharing the eve with lots of friends and family."
Additional support for the evening will be individual sets by two of Sacramento’s finest songwriters:
Greg Brown (Deathray, Cake) will play with a trio featuring new songs, as brilliant as ever.
And Dana Gumbiner (Deathray, LGS) will add layers of sonic experimentation to his deeply nuanced songwriting sensibilities.
