Horror is one of the most beloved genres in fiction, film, and video games—but what explains our fascination with fear, monsters, and the macabre? Why do we willingly seek out creatures, ghouls, and killers, and what does this reveal about our inner lives and our culture?

In this thought-provoking talk, Professor Peabody will explore how horror helps us confront mortality, test our limits, and make sense of a frightening world. A distinguished scholar and professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he is the editor or author of six books, including Political Theory on Death and Dying and Beyond the Living Dead: Essays on the Romero Legacy, and has published over fifty scholarly articles and book chapters.

His work has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and many others.
