📚 Lecture: “The Search for Quantum Gravity in Antarctica”
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker
Join us for a captivating evening as Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker takes us on a journey to the icy depths of Antarctica, home to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a groundbreaking particle detector buried more than a mile below the surface. This unique facility is tasked with observing neutrinos—special particles that travel from our atmosphere and even from distant galaxies.
In this lecture, Dr. Parker will share how he uses the data collected from IceCube to explore the fundamental nature of spacetime and test theories of quantum gravity involving microscopic black holes.
Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker is a particle physicist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he investigates some of the deepest mysteries in physics. His dissertation research has been published in prestigious journals such as Nature Physics and Physical Review Letters. Currently, he is focused on understanding the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe and developing new machine learning tools for particle detectors.
Don’t miss this enlightening opportunity to learn about the intersection of physics and exploration with Dr. Grant Kendrick Parker!
