🧠 Lecture: "Forensic Psych: Behavioral Threat Assessment Explained"
🎤 Speaker: Patrick McGonigal
Join us for a compelling evening as forensic psychologist Patrick McGonigal unpacks how acts of mass violence can be identified and prevented before they occur. In the wake of tragedies like Columbine and Virginia Tech, mental health clinicians, law enforcement, and other professionals have joined forces to better recognize and manage threatening behavior.
This lecture will introduce you to behavioral threat assessment, an interdisciplinary process used across the country to interrupt an individual’s “pathway to violence.” Dr. McGonigal will explain how teams identify warning signs, evaluate risk, and apply evidence-based predictors of violent behavior to keep communities safe.
Dr. McGonigal received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a Forensic Emphasis from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is currently a psychologist at Patton State Hospital. He has published numerous peer‑reviewed articles on forensic mental health, bringing both real-world and research-based insight to this critical topic.
