📚 Lecture: “Chasing the Thunder Dragon: In Search of the Real Bhutan”
🎤 Speaker: Prof. Jay Wexler
Join us for an enlightening evening with Prof. Jay Wexler as we explore the fascinating kingdom of Bhutan, nestled between India and China. Known for its groundbreaking principles like “Gross National Happiness” and its status as one of only three carbon-negative countries on Earth, Bhutan is much more than its travel accolades.
In this engaging lecture, Prof. Wexler will share insights from his visits to the Kingdom's sole law school during two separate stints, revealing the complexities of Bhutanese society and governance. He will discuss how his perceptions evolved, highlighting the rich cultural tapestry that underpins this unique nation. From its remarkable transition to democracy to its constitutional commitment to maintaining a forest cover, Bhutan certainly has lessons for the world — but they extend beyond catchy slogans.
Prof. Jay Wexler is a professor at Boston University School of Law, where he has taught constitutional, environmental, and cannabis law since 2001.
Don’t miss this opportunity to uncover the deeper truths about Bhutan and what it can teach us today!
