🧠 Lecture: "Your Brain's Night Shift: Why We Sleep"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Sarah Lynch
We spend about a third of our lives asleep, but your brain is anything but “off” at night. Join us for an evening with developmental scientist and sleep expert Dr. Sarah Lynch as she unpacks what your brain is really doing while you sleep—and why it matters so much for your mood, memory, learning, health, and everyday functioning.
Dr. Lynch will explore how different stages of sleep support memory consolidation, emotional processing, stress regulation, and flexible thinking, and why both sleep quality and quantity are crucial. She’ll also explain what happens when sleep goes wrong, from insomnia and obstructive sleep apnea to circadian rhythm disruptions, and how these issues can spill over into relationships, behavior, and mental health.
Drawing on her background in developmental science, university teaching at Harvard, and hands-on work with families at Baby Sleep Science, Dr. Lynch will connect cutting-edge research to real-life challenges, sharing practical, compassionate insights about how to better understand and protect your sleep.
