📚 Lecture: "World's Rarest Traditions: Rarest Pasta and Inca Bridges"
🎤 Speaker: Eliot Stein
Join us for a captivating evening with Eliot Stein, a senior journalist at the BBC, as he shares inspiring stories from his travels around the globe in search of extraordinary individuals dedicated to preserving some of the world’s most remarkable cultural rites on the brink of extinction.
Drawing from his new book, Custodians of Wonder, Eliot will take us on an immersive journey to rural Peru, where the world’s last Inca bridge builder is weaving the final suspension bridge from the Inca Empire. He’ll also introduce us to a 27th-generation griot in West Africa, who guards a mythical instrument, and then travel to Sardinia to meet the last women crafting the world’s rarest pasta.
Eliot Stein is the author of Custodians of Wonder: Ancient Customs, Profound Traditions, and the Last People Keeping Them Alive. His exceptional writing has been featured in esteemed publications such as The New York Times, WIRED, National Geographic, The Guardian, and The Washington Post.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to explore the world’s rarest traditions and the dedicated individuals who keep them alive!
