🧠 Lecture: "The Surprisingly Haunted History of Music"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Tom Rizzuto
From ancient rituals to modern rock, the history of music has always had a haunted side. Join music historian Dr. Tom Rizzuto for a spellbinding journey through the eerie legends and supernatural stories that have clung to musicians and their art for centuries.
Discover why early humans believed music could connect us to other worlds, how certain instruments were banned as “too evil,” and why some of history’s greatest performers were accused of making pacts with the devil. From Paganini’s rumored dealings with dark forces, to the blues crossroads of Robert Johnson, to the mythos surrounding Jimi Hendrix, you’ll explore how musical genius and the occult became intertwined.
Dr. Rizzuto will also dive into enduring mysteries like the infamous 27 Club and the questions surrounding Mozart’s untimely death, revealing why these legends refuse to die.
Dr. Tom Rizzuto is a professor of music history, guitar, and media at Molloy University and SUNY Old Westbury, and a TEDx speaker whose research focuses on the intersection of music and cultural change.
