From the 1950s through the 1990s, Saturday mornings were sacred for kids across America. For six magical hours each week, children gathered around their TV sets for a colorful parade of animated hijinks, slapstick gags, and unforgettable characters.
Join cartoonist and pop culture historian Joe Wos for a nostalgic and insightful journey through the history of Saturday morning cartoons—from early days repackaging theatrical shorts, to the golden age of Hanna-Barbera, to the eventual decline of this once-essential weekly ritual.
A professional cartoonist since age 14, Joe Wos has spent over 35 years bringing cartoon art to audiences worldwide. He is the six-time Emmy Award–winning host and creator of “Cartoon Academy” on PBS affiliates, the long-time visiting resident cartoonist at the Charles M. Schulz Museum, and the creator of MazeToons, a globally syndicated cartoon–puzzle hybrid.
