📚 Lecture: “The Power of Music in Social Movements and the Law”
🎤 Speaker: Professor Ian Lowell Heller, the Singing Sociologist (and Lawyer!)
Throughout history, music has inspired people to endure, resist, confront, and overcome some of the harshest indignities imposed by oppressive regimes. From slavery to the Civil Rights Movement, from the French Revolution to the Holocaust, music has fueled defiance and ignited revolutions.
Join Professor Ian Lowell Heller for a night that promises inspiration, enlightenment, and entertainment. As a sociologist, attorney, and former touring musician, Heller brings a unique perspective to the discussion of music’s role in social movements and law. He will share powerful songs that have historically challenged inhumane laws and uplifted the oppressed, all while singing and playing his way through some of the most consequential music in history.
Don’t miss this special event to explore the profound impact of music in shaping social change with Professor Heller!
