🧠 Lecture: "The History of UFO Reports"

🎤 Speaker: Professor Greg Eghigian

For almost eighty years, people around the world have reported sightings of UFOs and encounters with extraterrestrials. But how do these real accounts compare with the stories shaped by film, television, and science fiction? Join Professor Greg Eghigian as he uncovers the surprising and sometimes stranger-than-fiction history behind our fascination with UFOs.

By looking closely at eyewitness reports, cultural reactions, and official responses, Professor Eghigian asks what our UFO stories reveal about us—our hopes, fears, and imagination—when we place ourselves under the aliens’ magnifying glass.

Greg Eghigian is Professor of History and Bioethics at Penn State University and a historian of science and medicine. He has written on the histories of disability, madness, and criminality, and now focuses on the global history of UFOs and aliens. His work has appeared in Time, The Los Angeles Times, Aeon, and Boston Review, and he is a frequent voice in international media. He is the author of After the Flying Saucers Came: A Global History of the UFO Phenomenon, with a forthcoming book on the controversy over alien abduction.
