🧠 Lecture: "The Art of Trader Joe’s"
🎙️ Speaker: Author, Julie Averbach
Trader Joe’s is a treasure trove of art hiding in plain sight. From whimsical product packaging to handmade murals and signs, artwork animates every aisle. In this eye-opening lecture, author Julie Averbach traces the surprising historical origins of Trader Joe’s visual world—from ancient Roman sculpture on Caesar Salad to Art Nouveau icons adorning wine labels.
After visiting more than 150 Trader Joe’s locations nationwide, Averbach reveals the stories, references, and artistic traditions behind the designs you thought you knew. You’ll never look at your favorite Trader Joe’s products the same way again.
Julie Averbach is the author of The Art of Trader Joe’s and holds a B.A. in Art History & Psychology from Yale University. She has been featured as a Trader Joe’s expert in The New York Times, CNN, CNBC, and Artnet News. Averbach is also the Founder & CEO of smARTee, a nonprofit that provides live virtual art museum tours to foster arts access, wellness, and lifelong learning.
