📚 Lecture: "Our Majestic Moon"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Mark Popinchalk
Join us for an enchanting evening with Dr. Mark Popinchalk as we explore the mysteries of Earth's loyal companion, the Moon. This lecture will delve into the fascinating questions surrounding our lunar neighbor: How did it form? How does the Moon make life possible on Earth? What secrets does it hold about the history of our planet and solar system? And could there come a time when the Moon and Earth ultimately part ways?
Dr. Mark Popinchalk is a postdoctoral researcher at the American Museum of Natural History and an adjunct professor at NYU. His innovative research involves determining the ages of stars by observing their spin rates—old stars rotate slowly, while younger stars spin rapidly. In addition to his scientific pursuits, Mark hosts the late-night science comedy talk show Science, Tonight! and is an engaging planetarium presenter. When he’s not analyzing stars or educating the public, you can find him playing ultimate frisbee or baking bread.
Don't miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of our majestic Moon alongside Dr. Popinchalk!
