Join us for an intriguing evening as Professor Trey Ellis takes us on an intimate journey into the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., one of the most significant and misunderstood figures in American history.
As we approach another MLK Day holiday, Professor Ellis—Executive Producer of the Emmy-winning documentary King in the Wilderness—will provide a deeper, more nuanced understanding of this iconic leader. Through personal stories and historical insights, he will explore the complexities of Dr. King’s life, leadership, and the challenges he faced while shaping the Civil Rights Movement.
Trey Ellis is a two-time Emmy and Peabody-winning filmmaker, an American Book Award-winning novelist, and an NAACP Image Award-winning playwright. A celebrated essayist and Professor of Professional Practice at Columbia University’s School of the Arts, his work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, GQ, and Vanity Fair. He has also contributed audio commentary to NPR’s All Things Considered.
