🧠 Lecture: "Is Stress All in Your Head?"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Liz Co
Stress happens. It’s an unavoidable fact of life. We often think of stress as a mindset—something we should be able to control with willpower alone. But to physiologists, stress is not just “in your head”; it’s a real, measurable condition in the body.
In this engaging lecture, Dr. Liz Co will unpack the science of stress, exploring how it can be both essential and harmful. You’ll learn about “useful” and “non-useful” stress, recent research that may challenge what you think you know, and data-driven strategies for working with stress instead of against it.
Dr. Co holds a PhD from the University of California, San Francisco. In 14 years of teaching at Boston University, she has taught over 8,000 students—most of them future clinicians—about the human body. She is also the author of Anatomy and Physiology by Co, the first A&P textbook written with diverse representation as a primary goal.
