Drawing on 16 years of data from her archive, DCinbox, she shows how Democrats and Republicans have developed distinctly different communication strategies in their official emails.

Who writes more? What kinds of insults do they use? How do tone, topic, and language choice shape how “America” is addressed? By examining the words members of Congress use in their artificial, performative capacity, Professor Cormack exposes the subtle ways political messaging informs, inflames, and influences us.

Lindsey Cormack is an associate professor of political science at Stevens Institute of Technology, the creator of DCinbox, the host of “Government That Doesn’t Suck!”, and the author of “How to Raise a Citizen and Why It’s Up to You to Do It.”
