🧠Lecture: "How Bugs, Mold & Trees Interact with the Universe"
🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Mark Popinchalk
Humans like space. But what about everything else that lives on – and beyond – our tiny planet? From ancient constellation stories featuring animals, to real-life spaceship stowaways, arboreal “astronomers,” and slime mold that can map the universe, this talk explores how it’s not just human life that interacts with the cosmos.
Join us for a mind-bending journey that connects the everyday creatures around us to the vast expanse of space, revealing surprising links between bugs, mold, trees, and the structure of the universe itself.
Dr. Mark Popinchalk is a postdoctoral researcher at the American Museum of Natural History, an adjunct professor at NYU, and the host of the late-night science comedy talk show Science, Tonight! A seasoned planetarium presenter, ultimate frisbee player, and dedicated bread maker, his favorite color is “sky blue pink.”
Come for the cosmic critters, stay for the cosmic perspective.
