🎤 Speaker: Professor Rob Norman

Step into the dynamic world of streetwear with Professor Rob Norman as he explores the powerful intersection of hip-hop and skateboarding cultures. In this exciting lecture, you'll learn how these seemingly different subcultures collided in the late '80s and '90s to ignite one of the most influential fashion movements of our time.

Through the lens of music, movement, rebellion, and DIY aesthetics, young creatives from city streets to skate parks developed a visual language that disrupted fashion norms and redefined what it means to be cool. Professor Norman will delve into the cultural overlap, highlight key players, and share the pivotal moments that transformed underground expression into a global style empire.

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, Rob is the founder of multiple fashion brands and co-owner of the Brooklyn-based Planet Brooklyn Academy. He also teaches at FIT and internationally, sharing his expertise with the next generation of fashion professionals. Additionally, he is the author of Making the Brand and the creator of its companion YouTube series.
