🧠 Lecture: "Herbal Supplements: Risks, Benefits, and Regulation"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Spencer Casella, PharmD, RPh
Join us for an eye-opening evening with Dr. Spencer Casella, Assistant Professor of Ph*rm*cy Practice at MCPHS University, as we unpack the truth behind herbal supplements and remedies in the United States.
Dr. Casella will explain how today’s herbal products came to occupy their unique place in our healthcare system, and what current laws do—and don’t—require of manufacturers. You’ll explore the pharmacology of commonly used herbal supplements, learning how they can be both helpful and harmful.
We’ll discuss real-world risks to the general public, including safety concerns, drug–herb interactions, and misleading health claims, as well as evidence-based situations where these products may offer benefits. Most importantly, you’ll gain practical tools to evaluate products, read labels critically, and make safer choices as an informed consumer with virtually unlimited access to these remedies.
