📚 Lecture: "Data Literacy in Difficult Times"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy
Join us for an enlightening evening with Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy as she navigates the complex landscape of data-driven claims. In an era where algorithms, influencers, politicians, and advertisers abound, it can be challenging to discern legitimate data from misleading statistics. How can we differentiate between sound data-driven arguments and those that are simply “lies, damned lies, and statistics”?
In this engaging lecture, Dr. Jones-Rooy will highlight essential techniques for evaluating data claims without the need for an advanced math degree. By focusing on non-mathematical methods of assessment, she will equip you with the tools to critically analyze data just as you would appraise art or fine wine. While some data is indeed useful, much of it is not; by the end of this session, you will learn how to differentiate between the two.
Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy is a former professor of data science at NYU and the founder of The Data Thinking Revolution, which promotes data literacy globally. She is also a popular podcaster, international keynote speaker, standup comedian, and trapeze artist.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your data literacy skills!
