Join us for an engaging introduction to Critical Theory and the Frankfurt School, the influential group of twentieth-century thinkers who challenged conventional ideas about freedom, culture, and modern life.
This accessible lecture will explore the work of Adorno, Horkheimer, Marcuse, and others, unpacking their critiques of capitalism, mass culture, and modern society—and why their ideas feel so urgent today in a world of social media, surveillance, and constant distraction. You’ll leave with new tools to question the forces that shape your tastes, beliefs, and everyday experiences.
Dr. Ilk Yasha is an educator and facilitator at New York University and the Studio Museum in Harlem. He has worked with leading New York City institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, Pioneer Works, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Museum of the City of New York, and Brooklyn Historical Society.
