🧠 Lecture: "All the Light in the Universe Explained"

🎤 Speaker: Dr. Mark Popinchalk

How far can we see into space? Where does light come from? When did the universe glow? Light brings the cosmos down to Earth, and for most of human history, everything we knew about the universe came from understanding light.

Join astronomer Dr. Mark Popinchalk for an illuminating journey through what light is, how it behaves, and what it reveals about the cosmos. From the first glow of the early universe to the stars we see tonight, you’ll explore how light helps us map space, time, and everything in between—before tallying up “all the light in the universe.”

Dr. Popinchalk is an astronomer at the American Museum of Natural History, an adjunct professor at NYU, and the host of the late-night science comedy talk show Science, Tonight! A seasoned planetarium presenter, ultimate frisbee player, and bread maker, he brings curiosity, clarity, and humor to big questions about the universe.
