🧠 Lecture: "A Political Scientist's Guide to the 2026 Midterms"
🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy
The 2026 midterm elections are rapidly approaching, and all of our news feeds, algorithms, and inboxes are overflowing with talking heads, hot takes, predictions, polls, and endless requests to “chip in” for campaign donations. It’s overwhelming, stressful, and often confusing.
In this lecture, political and data scientist Dr. Andrea Jones-Rooy will cut through the noise, hype, and fearmongering to offer clear, research-based ways to understand what’s really going on. Drawing on decades of political science, they’ll explore what actually works to get out the vote, what kinds of campaigns tend to win, what we can and can’t learn from polls, and how concerned we should be about election integrity.
Andrea Jones-Rooy, Ph.D., is a political and data scientist who applies quantitative methods to complex challenges like polarization, misinformation, and democracy. Formerly a professor of data science and political science at NYU and NYU Shanghai, they now focus on public-facing work, including hosting the podcasts Behind the Data and Political Reality.
