🧠 Lecture: "Anarchy & the State: Do We Need Government to Function?"
🎤 Speaker: Dr. Daron Djerdjian
Most people believe that without government, chaos and disorder would reign. Political authority is widely seen as indispensable for social order—but is that really true?
Join Dr. Daron Djerdjian for an evening exploring one of the most controversial questions in political philosophy: Is government actually necessary for social coordination, cooperation, and peace?
Dr. Djerdjian will challenge the dominant narrative that social order depends on the state. He will discuss how law and security can emerge in a proprietary, contractual society through voluntary interaction, contract, and market institutions. The lecture will also introduce his concept of “praxeonomy,” a framework that extends the analysis of market anarchy into the realm of market-emergent morality.
Dr. Djerdjian has a Ph.D. in economics from Syracuse University and has taught economics for more than two decades at institutions including Occidental College, UCLA Extension, and Long Beach City College. He is the founder of the Carl Menger Institute, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the study of human action, market order, and the institutions of a free society.
