Lecture Abstract: Climate change is the most pressing issue facing cultural heritage globally, and archaeological sites are often at greatest risk. Around the globe, sites are being lost at an unprecedented level, and the situation is only getting worse. Climate change is a challenge unlike others and existing tools and techniques to preserve sites are proving inadequate. It requires new techniques and approaches. This talk will present international efforts to respond to this challenge. Taking examples from archaeological sites around the world, it will explore how heritage professionals and communities are working together to protect these special places for future generations.
