Pedagogy, the practice of teaching, is a concept most often used in traditional education fields to discuss how K - 12 teachers lead learners in curriculum and the classroom experience. But it is much more than how one teaches in a classroom context. Pedagogy is enacted in daily practices and habits beyond the classroom.
In her talk “Activating an Antiracist Art Pedagogy in the Museum,” Acuff will discuss the ways museums can take on pedagogy, specifically an antiracist art pedagogy, to support their dynamic and diverse communities with care and awareness. Acuff is professor and chair of the department of arts administration, education and policy at the Ohio State University. She received her doctoral degree in art education from the same institution.
