High risk Cold War tales of Canberra target towing duties while in the firing line of Royal Navy warship gunners and British Army missile operators. In total 22 English Electric Canberra B.2s were converted to TT.18s for use as target tugs. During the 1970s RAF Canberra target tugs were based at St Mawgan, Cornwall and West Raynham, Norfolk.
Squadron Leader Joe Marsden RAF (Retd) was a pilot of both the Vulcan and Canberra aircraft and enjoyed a long and varied career.
Our speaker previously delivered a presentation to the society on the role of the Vulcan in RAF service.
