The History Museum of Mobile’s upcoming Learning Lunch Program is on Wednesday, July 8th at 12 PM and will feature Paulette Davis-Horton, registered nurse, independent researcher, and author. The title of her presentation is The Last Truth: Booker T. Washington’s Final Confirmed Moments in Mobile, Alabama. This presentation introduces new evidence showing that Booker T. Washington spent the final functional moments of his life in Mobile, Alabama — a chapter missing from the national narrative for more than 110 years. Using clinical reasoning, historical documentation, railroad geography, and timeline reconstruction, the lecture demonstrates that Washington was last seen alive at the Patton Home on Davis Avenue, where the historical record goes dark after he climbed the stairs.
Paulette Davis‑Horton is a registered nurse, independent researcher, and author of Avenue: The Davis Avenue Story. A graduate of the University of South Alabama College of Nursing, she applies clinical reasoning and forensic historical methods to reconstruct overlooked chapters of African American history. Her recent work brings new evidence to Booker T. Washington’s final days and restores Mobile’s rightful place in the national narrative.
The History Museum of Mobile invites the public to attend the free Learning Lunch lecture series. Guests are encouraged to bring their lunch and enjoy a presentation on an historical or cultural topic. For more information on Learning Lunch, contact Brantley James, Curator of Education, at 251-301-0270 or [email protected].
