Learn what it takes to become a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard!

Open to everyone 18 and over!

Join us Saturday and Sunday, June 11th and June 12th, 2022 to learn what it takes to become a Los Angeles County Ocean Lifeguard!

We are excited to host our first training and preparation weekend! You can meet other candidates on the path to becoming a LA County Lifeguard, network, get a great workout, and find out what it takes to excel in this incredible career.

The Women's Lifeguard Prep Academy (WLPA) will be conducted Saturday and Sunday, June 11th and June 12th, 2022 from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at the Dockweiler Youth Center, 12505 Vista del Mar, Playa Del Rey, CA 90293.

Required Weekend Attire:

- Loose fitting mid-thigh navy blue shorts

- Navy blue or white t-shirt

- Running shoes or "navy blue" vans – Please see link for purchase:

- Body surfing fins – Please see link for purchase: https://www.dafin.com/

- Navy blue swim attire (bathing suit, shorts, reashguard top) appropriate for running and swimming in surf

- Sunglasses, sunscreen, towel, hair tie for long hair, a waterproof watch, goggles if you wear contacts

You will be issued one swim suit, one pair of shorts and one tee shirt on the first day. Please come dressed in a navy or white tee shirt, blue shorts or trunks and have swimming attire on if sizing issues occur or you need a second option.

NOT PERMITTED: Tank tops, stretch pants, skin-tight shorts

Lunch will not be provided, please bring your snacks/nutrition/meals for the day

****Be prepared to swim in the ocean, run in the sand, do push-ups and planks****
