About this Event

Did you know you can sew for social and environmental justice? Learning to sew empowers you to be able to make and mend your own clothing, accessories, and household items so they can last longer, suit your individual style and fit your body, life and home the way YOU choose.

WLU Students are welcome to join us in the Laurier Library Makerspace for a FREE workshop - All materials are provided and no experience needed. We will be making drawstring bags: an easy to sew project perfect for beginner sewists, and a great reusable alternative to single-use plastics!

This event is brought to you by the collaborative efforts of the Laurier Sustainability Office, Laurier Students’ Public Interest Research Group (LSPIRG) and the Laurier Library Makerspace.

Denise Springett will be facilitating this workshop: she got her HBA in English and Gender Studies from Laurier and is now a PhD candidate in the department of English—maybe you’ve met her! Denise is a firm believer in accessible and inclusive learning opportunities, so if you have any questions or requests, please reach out to her directly at [email protected]
