Learn to Sew: Apron Class

Ready to get creative and learn a new skill? Join us for our Learn to Sew: Apron Class — a beginner-friendly sewing workshop where you’ll walk away with your very own handmade apron!

Whether you're totally new to sewing or looking for a refresher, this class is designed to be fun, approachable, and hands-on. Over the course of three hours, you'll learn how to:

• Use a sewing machine with confidence
• Read and follow a simple sewing pattern (adjust patterns larger or smaller for the perfect size)
• Cut, pin, and sew fabric pieces together
• Add your own flair to your finished apron

All tools and materials are provided — just bring yourself, sewing machine and a willingness to learn!

This class is open to adults and youth aged 12 and up.Youth must be accompanied by a participating adult

• A cozy and creative atmosphere inside Waffle Bird
• Expert guidance from an experienced local designer
• All materials, machines, and tools provided

• A handmade apron to take home and be proud of!

🧺 What to Bring

• A participating adult, if you're a youth attendee
• A notebook and pen if you'd like to take notes
• Your own fabric (if you have something special in mind – medium-weight cotton recommended)2.5-3 Yards for Adult & 1.5-2 Yards for Youth
• Your own sewing machine ( we have machines available for use please reserve ahead of time via email to [email protected])

Wear something comfy — you’ll be seated and moving between sewing machines and tables throughout the class.

We’re so excited to be hosting this workshop at Waffle Bird, one of Edmonton’s coziest spots for comfort food — famous for their crispy fried chicken and waffles (with options for all tastes!).

✨ Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the class, so come a little early or stick around after to treat yourself to something delicious. Supporting the venue helps us continue to bring creative events like this to local spaces we love!
