Have you used a sewing machine before to make simple projects, but feeling a bit rusty and in need of a refresher?
Are you keen to get started on making your own lovely clothes and getting to grips with understanding a sewing pattern, but unsure where to start?
Or have you already sewn a few garments and looking to improve your skills and finishing techniques?
If yes to any of these, then this one day sewing class is just for you!
During the workshop, the tutor will guide you through how to measure yourself, teach you how to understand a sewing pattern, and cut out your chosen fabric. You will then move onto making a sleeveless top perfect for the Summer months. The pattern you will use is the Ashton Top by Helen's Closet, following the sewing pattern step-by-step, under the guidance of your knowledgeable tutor.
You will make a sleeveless woven top using the popular Ashton Top from Helen's Closet. This pattern is great for beginner dressmakers or more experienced sewists alike. It's also very versatile, as you have the option between 2 different hem lengths (hip length or cropped) and comes in 2 different cup ranges for different bust sizes. The pattern comes in Size Range: 0-30 (up to a 58″ / 147.5 cm bust). The tutor will help you select between a B-cup pattern from sizes 0-22, and a D-cup pattern from sizes 12-30.
Depending on your level of experience the tutor will be able to guide you through which techniques and finishing methods to use for the top, making it an ideal project for both beginners and those with a bit more sewing experience.
Please note that you may have some finishing touches to complete at home, such as the hem or adding the optional pockets.
