As part of our Green Initiative, DRAW collects grocery bags to make plastic yarn ("Plarn") to create larger reusable tote bags that are used by disaster victims as they muck out their homes and salvage their belongings. Grocery bags are donated from the public, and DRAW's army of volunteers help make plarn and crochet the tote bags to give to disaster victims in times of need.On Saturday April 12th (starting at 9:30a), we will be going over the basics of crocheting with our Plarn Flood Bag pattern using 4 stitches:
-Chain stitch (ch)
-Single crochet stitch (sc)
-Single crochet 2 together stitch (sc2tog)
-Slip stitch (sl st)
DRAW will have crochet hooks (size Q) and plastic yarn available, and bringing standard yarn/crochet hooks are encouraged as well to learn from.
