About this Event
This 4 week course is intended for beginners who want to learn as much as they can about the world of beading, or for beaders who would like to learn other beading techniques than what they have learned.
This course is packed with over a dozen techniques and types of beading, giving the new artist a plethora of skills to choose from and combine for their own beading journey. During each class, students will be taught at least one technique and will have the opportunity to practice with the instructor present. If the participants are advancing quickly, more techniques that build on top of the initial technique will be taught.
Skills
Types of beading that students may learn each day, but not limited to:
- single/double bead stitching (brick, peyote, herringbone, square),
- bead weaving (netting, tatting),
- bead embroidery (flat stitch),
- and loom or fringe beading (dependant on time and number of participants).
To learn all these techniques, you must register for the full course. Only signing up for one day means you will only learn what is taught that one day, and it is not guaranteed you will learn what you want from the list.
Included in full course fee:
- In-person instruction from an experienced beader for 7 total hours.
- Starter kit ($18 value): 10/0 black seed beads, white nymo thread, beeswax, needles, felt beading mat, stiff felt foundation square and vinyl backing square (embroidery/flat stitch). (The more people that sign up, the more supplies I can add to it!)
- Reading patterns and one Kaleidocat original pattern ($5 value) for each technique learned.
- Tips, tricks, and things to avoid when beading, thus saving you money, and hours or years of trial and error.
- At the end of each class, students are given a list of online resources where they can further their knowledge on the techniques they like. These lists are compiled from hours of research looking for quality online learning, as well as local resources for materials if they wish to buy more supplies. Knowledge of supply stores is from years of trial and error to find the best quality and best price.
For those needing accommodations with larger beads, they can be requested no later than a week before the class starts.
This location is, unfortunately, not wheel chair friendly (stairs) and as much as I wish I could offer an online counterpart, this location does not have the resources to stream the class. Please stay tuned to my social media for other opportunities or reach out if you are interested.
