Frevo is a popular music and dance style from Pernambuco in the Northeast of Brazil. It is traditionally danced on the streets during Carnival and other festivals to the lively music of brass bands, similar to the tradition of second-line parades in New Orleans.
The dance is full of improvisation and expression that uses fun but simple footwork, expressive hand movements and best of all: twirling of a colorful mini umbrella!
