About this Event

October 24 10:30 to 3:30pm

Materials included $175

Although natural dyes are now available as instant powders, this class starts from scratch to make the dyes, with onion skins, osage orange flakes, and cochineal, the red dye from bugs. After a brown bag lunch and a meet and greet with the sheep, try out dyes set with citric acid or vinegar for a different dyeing experience. Paint roving or yarns, dye balls of yarn, and learn the ins and outs of the quick powder dyes.

All classes are held at Windrush Farm, just a short distance outside of Petaluma, CA. Students get to meet the sheep, alpacas, and llamas at every class, and in the spring, view the lambs as they arrive on the farm. The perfect setting to see your fiber on the animal and become part of the history of using the world’s most sustainable harvest, wool.

All classes will be held outside, mask optional unless the student is not vaccinated.
