What do our City Attorneys do to protect our cities? On Wednesday, October 1 at 7pm, Beaches Watch will host a meeting to answer this question. PLEASE NOTE THE NEW LOCATION: The meeting will be held at the Beaches Museum Chapel, 505 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach, Florida and is open to the public.
Our beaches cities have City Attorneys who play a crucial role in ensuring our cities operate legally and efficiently. These attorneys often work behind the scenes and citizens don’t always know about the work they are doing. So, Beaches Watch has invited our beaches City Attorneys to discuss their important role for our cities, the legal issues they are dealing with, and explain their areas of specialty and terms of employment. The City Attorneys will also discuss their city’s legislative priorities and provide an update on state legislative issues and how they are expected to impact their city. State legislative issues that will be discussed include an update on changes to financial reporting for elected officials and how the affordable housing Live Local Act may impact our beaches communities, particularly related to the height of the affordable housing developments. Guest speakers will be Atlantic Beach City Attorney Jason Gabriel, Jacksonville Beach City Attorney David Mugut, and Neptune Beach City Attorney Paul Waters. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions.
“This meeting will give our citizens a better understanding of what our City Attorneys are doing for our cities and an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about their vital roles,” said Maria Mark, president of Beaches Watch.
