About Our Speaker: Carl Jones

Carl Jones is Plant Sciences Director at the Mars Advanced Research Institute (MARI), where he leads development of science and technology to support ecologically and economically sustainable agriculture. A plant geneticist and agricultural research executive, he has more than 25 years of experience spanning roles at companies such as Bayer and Monsanto, with expertise in vegetable crop genetics, accelerated breeding, and large-scale R&D leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of California, Davis, where he focused on nutritional improvement of tomato, and now works through MARI’s global network of partners to drive innovation across food systems, plant breeding, and sustainability.
