Learn DBT inspired Techniques for Connecting and Engaging with Clients

Welcome to Journey’s DBT inspired skills training! This training is hands on and interactive. Through this training you will learn innovative and creative techniques for teaching DBT inspired skills to clients of all ages. Diverse populations and a variety of presenting concerns (i.e. substance use, trauma, mood disorders, personality disorders, etc.) will be covered in the training. By the end of our training, you will feel competent in the core components of DBT inspired therapy/skills and how to use these approaches in a fun and engaging way in your work with clients.

• Understand the historical context and underpinnings of DBT therapy, including its origins and development as it pertains to therapy with clients
• Understand the basics o f DBT skills and how they are effective with a variety of populations
• Apply DBT inspired techniques to address issues such as trauma, substance use, anxiety, personality disorders, and mood disorders.

Hello! My Name is Laura Pierson, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have worked in the field for 10+ years, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I serve a diverse population of clients with a variety of presenting concerns. My areas of interest including working with individuals of all ages to resolve and work through single episodes of trauma or complex trauma. I have specialized training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Play Therapy. Through my work with client’s, I have found creative and engaging ways to pull these concepts together to best meet the client’s needs and help them learn essential skills in a fun way. My name is Anna Formella. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I specialize in working with Children and Families with diverse backgrounds and a variety of presenting concerns. I primarily take an Experiential Play Therapy approach. I integrate play, sand, art, music, and sensory based therapy approaches in sessions. I have spent my last three years at JTHCC growing my knowledge in Play based approaches, specifically with kids and families who have experienced adoption, attachment injuries, and traumas. I take the foundation of skills based approaches; CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and integrate them in a fun and interactive way. I strive to create a safe and creative environment for people to explore and grow.
