LEAP Training for Tulsa-area First Responders—Mental Illness & Engagement
About this Event
67% of people experiencing homelessness have a mental illness — and the #1 reason many refuse help: ANOSOGNOSIA
It’s not denial or defiance—it’s anosognosia, a neurological condition that impairs a person’s ability to recognize they are ill—and the leading cause of conflict, hospitalization, relapse, chronic homelessness, incarceration, and treatment refusal.

Join us for a rare opportunity to train directly with Dr. Xavier Amador—creator of LEAP®, renowned clinical and forensic psychologist, and bestselling author of I Am Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help! He has trained law enforcement, judicial, and behavioral health systems nationwide, testified in involuntary treatment proceedings and 80+ death penalty cases, and worked at Guantanamo Bay under Top Secret DOJ clearance.

Tulsa-area first responders and frontline professionals who engage people with SMI—including Law Enforcement (Police, Sheriffs, Corrections & Federal Agencies), Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics, 911 Dispatchers, Crisis/Co-Responders, and Street Outreach Specialists.
LEAP takes a fundamentally different approach to crisis response, equipping you with practical tools and a counterintuitive skill set you can use immediately—whether responding to a call, working in custody or corrections, communicating through dispatch, or engaging someone in crisis in a clinic or on the street.
