Leading: The James Turrell Skyspace at Friends | Sunset Program

Experience Leading (2023), James Turrell’s Skyspace at Friends Seminary. Located atop the School’s 16th Street campus, this contemplative space invites visitors to slow down and notice how light, color, and perception shape what they see.

During the Sunset program, the Skyspace’s aperture opens to the sky. As daylight fades, lighting around the aperture and inside the room shifts through a sequence of colors, changing how visitors perceive the sky above. Guests are invited to sit quietly and experience the full program.

Please arrive on time. Each Sunset program begins and ends at the times listed for that event. To preserve the experience for everyone, we are unable to admit guests after the program begins.

Weather note: In the event of rain, storms, or other inclement weather, Friends Seminary will close the aperture. The program will still take place at its scheduled time, but there will be no direct view of the sky.

Reservations are required. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your reservation through Eventbrite at least 48 hours in advance so another guest may visit.
